2 And he said559 to him, God forbid;2486 you shall not die:4191 behold,2009 my father1 will do6213 nothing3808 1697 either great1419 or176 small,6996 but that he will show1540 it me: and why4069 should my father1 hide5641 this2088 thing1697 from me? it is not so.

2 Er aber sprach559 zu6213 ihm: Das1697 sei ferne, du sollst nicht sterben4191. Siehe, mein Vater1 tut6213 nichts, weder Großes1419 noch Kleines6996, das1697 er nicht meinen Ohren241 offenbare1540; warum sollte denn mein Vater1 dies vor mir2486 verbergen5641? Es wird nicht so sein.

3 And David1732 swore7650 moreover,5750 and said,559 Your father1 certainly knows3045 that I have found4672 grace2580 in your eyes;5869 and he said,559 Let not Jonathan3083 know3045 this,2063 lest6435 he be grieved:6087 but truly199 as the LORD3068 lives,2416 and as your soul5315 lives,2416 there is but a step6587 between996 me and death.4194

3 Da schwur7650 David1732 weiter und199 sprach559: Dein Vater1 weiß3045 wohl, daß ich559 Gnade2580 vor deinen Augen5869 funden habe, darum wird3045 er2416 denken: Jonathan3083 soll solches nicht wissen3045, es möchte4672 ihn bekümmern6087. Wahrlich, so wahr der HErr3068 lebet, und so wahr deine See LE5315 lebet, es ist nur ein Schritt6587 zwischen mir und dem Tode4194!

4 Then said559 Jonathan3083 to David,1732 Whatever4100 your soul5315 desires,559 I will even do6213 it for you.

5 And David1732 said559 to Jonathan,3083 Behold,2009 to morrow4279 is the new2320 moon,2320 and I should not fail to sit3427 with the king4428 at meat:398 but let me go,7971 that I may hide5641 myself in the field7704 to the third7992 day at even.6153

5 David1732 sprach559 zu ihm3083: Siehe, morgen ist398 der Neumond2320, da ich mit dem Könige4428 zu Tische sitzen3427 sollte; so laß3427 mich7971, daß ich mich auf dem Felde7704 verberge5641 bis an den Abend6153 des dritten7992 Tages4279.

6 If518 your father1 at all miss6485 me, then say,559 David1732 earnestly asked7592 leave of me that he might run7323 to Bethlehem1035 his city:5892 for there is a yearly3117 sacrifice2077 there8033 for all3605 the family.4940

6 Wird6485 dein Vater1 nach mir fragen7592, so sprich559: David1732 bat7592 mich, daß er gen Bethlehem1035, zu seiner Stadt5892, laufen7323 möchte; denn es ist6485 ein jährlich3117 Opfer2077 daselbst dem ganzen Geschlechte.

7 If518 he say559 thus,3541 It is well;2896 your servant5650 shall have peace:7965 but if518 he be very wroth,2734 then be sure3045 that evil7451 is determined3615 by him.

7 Wird er sagen559: Es ist3615 gut2896, so stehet es wohl7965 um deinen Knecht5650. Wird er aber2734 ergrimmen2734, so wirst du merken3045, daß Böses7451 bei ihm beschlossen ist.

8 Therefore you shall deal6213 kindly2617 with your servant;5650 for you have brought935 your servant5650 into a covenant1285 of the LORD3068 with you: notwithstanding, if518 there be in me iniquity,5771 slay4191 me yourself;859 for why4100 should you bring935 me to your father?1
|
8 So tue6213 nun Barmherzigkeit2617 an deinem Knechte5650; denn du hast3426 mit mir, deinem Knechte5650, einen Bund1285 im HErrn3068 gemacht. Ist935 aber eine Missetat5771 in mir, so töte4191 du mich; denn warum wolltest935 du mich zu deinem Vater1 bringen?

9 And Jonathan3083 said,559 Far2486 be it from you: for if518 I knew3045 certainly that evil7451 were determined3615 by my father1 to come935 on you, then would not I tell5046 it you?

9 Jonathan3083 sprach559: Das sei ferne von mir2486, daß ich3045 sollte3615 merken3045, daß Böses7451 bei meinem Vater1 beschlossen wäre, über dich zu bringen935, und sollte dir‘s nicht ansagen5046.

10 Then said559 David1732 to Jonathan,3083 Who4310 shall tell5046 me? or176 what4100 if176 your father1 answer6030 you roughly?7186

10 David1732 aber sprach559: Wer will mir‘s ansagen5046, so dir dein Vater1 etwas Hartes7186 antwortet6030?

11 And Jonathan3083 said559 to David,1732 Come,3212 and let us go3318 out into the field.7704 And they went3318 out both8147 of them into the field.7704

11 Jonathan3083 sprach559 zu David1732: Komm, laß uns hinaus3318 aufs Feld7704 gehen3212! Und gingen3318 beide8147 hinaus aufs Feld7704.

12 And Jonathan3083 said559 to David,1732 O LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 when3588 I have sounded2713 my father1 about to morrow4279 any time,6256 or the third7992 day, and, behold,2009 if there be good2896 toward413 David,1732 and I then227 send7971 not to you, and show1540 it you;

12 Und6256 Jonathan3083 sprach559 zu David1732: HErr3068, GOtt430 Israels3478, wenn ich erforsche2713 an meinem Vater1 morgen4279 und am dritten7992 Tage, daß es wohlstehet mit David1732, und nicht hinsende7971 zu dir und vor deinen Ohren241 offenbare1540,

13 The LORD3068 do6213 so3541 and much3254 more3254 to Jonathan:3083 but if3588 it please3190 my father1 to do you evil,7451 then I will show1540 it you, and send7971 you away, that you may go1980 in peace:7965 and the LORD3068 be with you, as he has been1961 with my father.1

13 so3541 tue6213 der HErr3068 Jonathan3083 dies und jenes. Wenn aber das3254 Böse7451 meinem Vater1 gefällt wider dich, so will3190 ich‘s auch vor deinen Ohren241 offenbaren1540 und dich lassen7971, daß du mit Frieden7965 weggehest. Und der HErr3068 sei mit dir, wie er mit meinem Vater1 gewesen ist1980!

14 And you shall not only while518 yet5750 I live2416 show6213 me the kindness2617 of the LORD,3068 that I die4191 not:

14 Tue6213 ich‘s nicht518, so tue keine Barmherzigkeit2617 des HErrn3068 an mir, weil ich lebe2416, auch nicht, so ich sterbe4191.

15 But also you shall not cut3772 off your kindness2617 from my house1004 for ever:5769 no, not when the LORD3068 has cut3772 off the enemies341 of David1732 every376 one376 from the face6440 of the earth.127
|
15 Und wenn der HErr3068 die5769 Feinde341 Davids1732 ausrotten3772 wird, einen jeglichen376 aus3772 dem Lande6440, so reiße du deine Barmherzigkeit2617 nicht von meinem Hause1004 ewiglich5704.

|
16 So Jonathan3083 made3772 a covenant with the house1004 of David,1732 saying, Let the LORD3068 even require1245 it at the hand3027 of David's1732 enemies.341
|
16 Also machte3772 Jonathan3083 einen Bund mit dem Hause1004 Davids1732 und sprach: Der HErr3068 fordere1245 es von der Hand3027 der Feinde341 Davids1732!
|
|
17 And Jonathan3083 caused David1732 to swear7650 again,3254 because he loved160 him: for he loved157 him as he loved160 his own soul.5315
|
17 Und Jonathan3083 fuhr weiter3254 und schwur7650 David1732, so lieb157 hatte160 er ihn; denn er hatte160 ihn so lieb als seine See LE5315.

18 Then Jonathan3083 said559 to David,1732 To morrow4279 is the new2320 moon:2320 and you shall be missed,6485 because3588 your seat4186 will be empty.6485

18 Und Jonathan3083 sprach559 zu ihm1732: Morgen4279 ist der Neumond2320, so wird6485 man nach dir fragen; denn man wird6485 dein vermissen, da du zu sitzen4186 pflegest.

19 And when you have stayed three8027 days, then you shall go3381 down3381 quickly,3966 and come935 to the place4725 where834 8033 you did hide5641 yourself when the business4639 was in hand, and shall remain3427 by the stone68 Ezel.237

19 Des dritten Tages3117 aber komm bald3966 hernieder8027 und4639 gehe935 an einen Ort4725, da du3427 dich3381 verbergest am Werkeltage, und setze dich5641 bei681 den Stein68 Asel237,
|
|
20 And I will shoot3384 three7969 arrows2671 on the side6654 thereof, as though I shot7971 at a mark.4307

20 so will ich zu seiner Seite6654 drei7969 Pfeile2671 schießen3384, als ich zum Sichermal schösse7971.
|
|
21 And, behold,2009 I will send7971 a lad,5288 saying, Go,3212 find4672 out the arrows.2671 If518 I expressly559 say559 to the lad,5288 Behold,2009 the arrows2671 are on this2007 side of you, take3947 them; then come935 you: for there is peace7965 to you, and no369 hurt;1697 as the LORD3068 lives.2416

21 Und siehe, ich will935 den Knaben5288 senden7971: Gehe3212 hin, suche die Pfeile2671! Werde ich zum Knaben5288 sagen559: Siehe, die Pfeile2671 liegen hierwärts hinter dir, hole sie559! so komm, denn es1697 ist4672 Friede7965 und hat3947 keine Fahr, so wahr der HErr3068 lebet.

22 But if518 I say559 thus3541 to the young5958 man,5958 Behold,2009 the arrows2671 are beyond1973 you; go3212 your way:3212 for the LORD3068 has sent7971 you away.

22 Sage559 ich aber zum Jünglinge: Siehe, die Pfeile2671 liegen dortwärts vor dir1973, so gehe hin, denn der HErr3068 hat dich lassen7971 gehen3212.
|
|
23 And as touching the matter1697 which834 you and I have spoken1696 of, behold,2009 the LORD3068 be between996 you and me for ever.5769
|
23 Was aber du und ich miteinander geredet haben1697, da ist1696 der HErr3068 zwischen mir und dir ewiglich5704.
|
|
24 So David1732 hid5641 himself in the field:7704 and when the new2320 moon2320 was come,1961 the king4428 sat3427 him down to eat398 meat.3899
|
24 David1732 verbarg5641 sich3427 im Felde7704. Und da der Neumond2320 kam, setzte sich3899 der König4428 zu Tische zu essen398.
|
|
25 And the king4428 sat3427 on his seat,4186 as at other times,6471 even on a seat4186 by the wall:7023 and Jonathan3083 arose,6965 and Abner74 sat3427 by Saul's7586 side,6654 and David's1732 place4725 was empty.6485

25 Da4725 sich3427 aber der König4428 gesetzt hatte an seinen Ort4186, Wie6471 er6485 vorhin gewohnt war, an der Wand7023, stund Jonathan3083 auf6965, Abner74 aber setzte sich3427 an die Seite6654 Sauls7586. Und man vermissete Davids1732 an seinem Ort4186.

26 Nevertheless Saul7586 spoke1696 not any3972 thing that day:3117 for he thought,559 Something4745 has befallen4745 him, he is not clean;2889 surely3588 he is not clean.2889

26 Und Saul7586 redete1696 des Tages3117 nichts; denn er gedachte559: Es ist2889 ihm etwas3972 widerfahren4745, daß er nicht1115 rein ist2889.

|
27 And it came1961 to pass on the morrow,4283 which was the second8145 day of the month,2320 that David's1732 place4725 was empty:6485 and Saul7586 said559 to Jonathan3083 his son,1121 Why4069 comes935 not the son1121 of Jesse3448 to meat,3899 neither1571 yesterday,8543 nor1571 to day?3117

27 Des andern8145 Tages4283 des Neumonden2320, da man Davids1732 vermissete an seinem Ort4725, sprach559 Saul7586 zu seinem Sohn1121 Jonathan3083: Warum ist6485 der Sohn1121 Isais nicht zu Tische kommen935, weder gestern8543 noch heute3117?

28 And Jonathan3083 answered6030 Saul,7586 David1732 earnestly asked7592 leave of me to go to Bethlehem:1035

28 Jonathan3083 antwortete6030 Saul7586: Er1732 bat7592 mich7592, daß er gen Bethlehem1035 ginge,

29 And he said,559 Let me go,7971 I pray4994 you; for our family4940 has a sacrifice2077 in the city;5892 and my brother,251 he has commanded6680 me to be there: and now,6258 if518 I have found4672 favor2580 in your eyes,5869 let me get4422 away,4422 I pray4994 you, and see7200 my brothers.251 Therefore5921 3651 he comes935 not to the king's4428 table.7979

29 und sprach559: Laß4672 mich7971 gehen935, denn unser Geschlecht4940 hat zu opfern2077 in der Stadt5892, und mein Bruder251 hat mir‘s selbst geboten6680; habe ich nun Gnade2580 vor deinen Augen5869 funden, so will7200 ich hinweg4422 und meine Brüder251 sehen. Darum ist er nicht kommen zu des Königs4428 Tisch7979.

30 Then Saul's7586 anger639 was kindled2734 against Jonathan,3083 and he said559 to him, You son1121 of the perverse5753 rebellious4780 woman, do not I know3045 that you have chosen977 the son1121 of Jesse3448 to your own confusion,1322 and to the confusion1322 of your mother's517 nakedness?6172

30 Da ergrimmete der Zorn639 Sauls7586 wider Jonathan3083 und1121 sprach559 zu ihm: Du ungehorsamer5753 Bösewicht! Ich weiß3045 wohl, daß du den Sohn1121 Isais3448 auserkoren hast977, dir und1322 deiner unartigen Mutter517 zu Schanden1322.

31 For as long3117 as the son1121 of Jesse3448 lives2425 on the ground,127 you shall not be established,3559 nor your kingdom.4438 Why now6258 send7971 and fetch3947 him to me, for he shall surely die.4191

31 Denn solange3117 der Sohn1121 Isais3448 lebet auf3947 Erden127, wirst du, dazu auch dein Königreich4438, nicht bestehen. So sende7971 nun hin und laß ihn herholen zu3559 mir; denn er muß sterben4194.

32 And Jonathan3083 answered6030 Saul7586 his father,1 and said559 to him, Why4100 shall he be slain?4191 what4100 has he done?6213

32 Jonathan3083 antwortete6030 seinem Vater1 Saul7586 und sprach559 zu ihm: Warum soll er sterben4191? Was hat er getan6213?

|
33 And Saul7586 cast2904 a javelin2595 at5921 him to smite5221 him: whereby Jonathan3083 knew3045 that it was determined3615 of his father1 to slay4191 David.1732
|
33 Da schoß2904 Saul7586 den Spieß2595 nach ihm, daß er5221 ihn spießete. Da merkte3045 Jonathan3083, daß bei seinem Vater1 gänzlich beschlossen war3617, David1732 zu töten4191.

|
34 So Jonathan3083 arose6965 from the table7979 in fierce2750 anger,639 and did eat398 no3808 meat3899 the second8145 day3117 of the month:2320 for he was grieved6087 for David,1732 because3588 his father1 had done him shame.3637

34 Und3083 stund auf6965 vom Tisch7979 mit grimmigem2750 Zorn639 und aß398 desselben andern8145 Tages3117 des Neumonden2320 kein Brot3899; denn er war bekümmert6087 um David1732, daß ihn sein Vater1 also verdammte3637.

35 And it came1961 to pass in the morning,1242 that Jonathan3083 went3318 out into the field7704 at the time appointed4150 with David,1732 and a little6996 lad5288 with him.

35 Des Morgens1242 ging3318 Jonathan3083 hinaus aufs Feld7704, dahin er David1732 bestimmt4150 hatte, und ein kleiner6996 Knabe5288 mit ihm.
|
|
36 And he said559 to his lad,5288 Run,7323 find4672 out now4994 the arrows2671 which834 I shoot.3384 And as the lad5288 ran,7323 he shot3384 an arrow2678 beyond5674 him.

36 Und sprach559 zu dem Knaben5288: Lauf und suche4672 mir die Pfeile2671, die ich schieße3384! Da aber der Knabe5288 lief7323, schoß er7323 einen Pfeil2678 über5674 ihn hin.

|
37 And when the lad5288 was come935 to the place4725 of the arrow2678 which834 Jonathan3083 had shot,3384 Jonathan3083 cried7121 after311 the lad,5288 and said,559 Is not the arrow2678 beyond1973 you?
|
37 Und als der Knabe5288 kam935 an den Ort4725, dahin Jonathan3083 den Pfeil2678 geschossen hatte3384, rief7121 ihm5288 Jonathan3083 nach310 und sprach559: Der Pfeil2678 liegt dortwärts vor dir1973.
|
|
38 And Jonathan3083 cried7121 after311 the lad,5288 Make speed,4120 haste,2363 stay5975 not. And Jonathan's3129 lad5288 gathered3950 up the arrows,2678 and came935 to his master.113
|
38 Und3083 rief7121 abermal ihm5288 nach310: Eile2363 rasch4120 und935 stehe nicht stille! Da las der Knabe5288 Jonathans3083 die Pfeile2671 auf5975 und brachte3950 sie zu seinem Herrn113.

39 But the lad5288 knew3045 not any3972 thing: only389 Jonathan3083 and David1732 knew3045 the matter.1697
|
39 Und der Knabe5288 wußte3045 nichts3972 drum; allein Jonathan3083 und David1732 wußten3045 um1697 die Sache.
|
|
40 And Jonathan3083 gave5414 his artillery3627 to his lad,5288 and said559 to him, Go,3212 carry935 them to the city.5892
|
40 Da gab5414 Jonathan3083 seine Waffe3627 seinem Knaben5288 und935 sprach559 zu ihm: Gehe3212 hin und trag‘s in die Stadt5892.

|
41 And as soon as the lad5288 was gone,935 David1732 arose6965 out of a place toward681 the south,5045 and fell5307 on his face639 to the ground,776 and bowed7812 himself three7969 times:6471 and they kissed5401 one376 another,7453 and wept1058 one376 with another,7453 until5704 David1732 exceeded.1431

41 Da der Knabe5288 hineinkam, stund David1732 auf6965 vom Ort gegen Mittag5045 und376 fiel5307 auf sein935 Antlitz639 zur Erde776 und376 betete7812 dreimal7969 an; und küsseten sich681 miteinander und weineten miteinander, David1732 aber am allermeisten1431.

42 And Jonathan3083 said559 to David,1732 Go3212 in peace,7965 for as much as we have sworn7650 both8147 of us in the name8034 of the LORD,3068 saying,559 The LORD3068 be between996 me and you, and between996 my seed2233 and your seed2233 for ever.5769 And he arose6965 and departed:3212 and Jonathan3083 went935 into the city.5892

42 Und Jonathan3083 sprach559 zu David1732: Gehe3212 hin3212 mit Frieden7965! Was wir beide8147 geschworen haben7650 im Namen8034 des HErrn3068 und gesagt559: Der HErr3068 sei zwischen mir und dir, zwischen meinem Samen2233 und deinem Samen2233, das bleibe ewiglich5704.
